STEM Students Experience Modern Manfuacturing at Gateway

Posted on October 19, 2016

While the primary focus of our production process is manufacturing amazing plastics to serve the needs of our customers across the globe, Gateway’s partnerships in the local community are also thriving. We were pleased to host a group of STEM students from West Bend East and West High Schools (West Bend, Wisconsin) recently when they visited our facility for a day of experiential learning.

Gateway Plastics is committed to investing in the future leaders of the manufacturing industry, so we feel the importance of making sure students are exposed to what modern manufacturing is really like.

Many young people have an outdated concept of what an industrial career is like and might use words like dark, dirty, or unsafe to describe what it’s like to work in a factory. We hope that the tour of our fast-paced, bright, clean, climate controlled, highly automated production floor helped clear up misperceptions and encouraged the students to reimagine manufacturing.
